What I Do

Below are some of the ways I navigate through complex problem spaces. My approach to leading teams through ambiguity starts with curiosity and strong collaboration and ends with the creation of intuitive, ideally simple solutions.

Research

Gathering information is always a key first step. If we don’t know what we’re trying to accomplish then we certainly aren’t going to be able to determine how to do it. Personas, competitive analysis, evaluations, questionnaires are only a few of the ways this can be accomplished.

Concept

UI is what ultimately led me to wanting to support and defend users in the first place. It is where we really get to show a story and not just tell with flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, color schemes, and well thought out implementation specs.

Share

Whether it’s presenting to CEOs or sharing findings with a team to make a decision, I rely on empathy and clear communication beginning to end. That often means a lot of listening not just talking to make sure ideas are clear.

My Most Recent Project

“From a virtual assistant that could’ve stepped out of a Pixar film to cameras that infer heart rate and alertness from micro expressions on the driver’s face, a brace of high-tech features are on their way to new vehicles from supplier Harman.

Formerly strictly an audio company, Harman has broadened its portfolio to include everything from head-up displays to augmented reality since South Korean electronics giant Samsung acquired the California-based company for $8 billion in 2017. Harman now works with automakers’ development teams years before vehicles hit the road.” -Detroit Free Press
